HORARY.EXE
Version: 1.00
HORARY.EXE is a horary astrology program that calculates the
positions of the 10 planets (Tropical zodiac), and the 12 house
cusps (Placidus or Regiomontanus) for any date, time and place.
This program displays a chartwheel horoscope (Hercules, CGA, EGA
and VGA modes only) and the aspects between the planets (Sun
through Pluto including the Moon's nodes - nodal aspects are
displayed in EGA mode only), Part of Fortune, Ascendant and
Midheaven (Midheaven aspects are displayed for EGA mode only). It
also prints to screen, printer (Epson compatible) or disk file a
listing of other pertinent traditional horary information. Too, a
number of graphics programs are included with this disk in order
to allow you to print the chartwheel to your printer.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: 275K memory and one disk drive. Optional:
printer (preferably Epson FX or compatible).
HOW TO START: Type 'HORARY', then press <RETURN>. You may want to
load one of the graphics programs before running HORARY.EXE in
order to be able to print the chartwheel screen to your printer.
FILE DESCRIPTIONS OF THE FILES CONTAINED ON THE PROGRAM DISK:
HORARY.EXE - Main program.
SPECS.DOC - The program's technical specifications.
ORDER.DOC - Order form.
CGA.EXE - A sample CGA graphics screen.
EGA.EXE - A sample EGA graphics screen.
HERC.EXE - A sample Hercules graphics screen.

command.
14 graphics programs:
DMP200.COM DUMPHP.COM EGAEPSON.COM
FX.COM GEMGRAPH.COM GRAFTRAX.COM
GRAPHICR.COM HERCTOSH.COM HPPS.COM
OKIDMP.COM OKIPRTSC.COM PRTSC.COM
SCRNDUMP.COM TOSHDUMP.EXE
This horary astrology program for IBM-compatible personal
computers permits you to:
1) Calculate the zodiac sign positions of the ten planets,
including the Sun and Moon, and the twelve house cusps for any
date, time, and place. This program uses the Tropical zodiac and
the user may select either the Placidian house system or the
Regiomontanus house system.
2) Display the horoscope data in graphic chartwheel format using
planetary, sign and aspect glyphs (Hercules, CGA, EGA and VGA
modes only).
3) Display supplemental traditional horary data and calculations.
NOTES ON USAGE:
---------------
1. Instructions for entering data are given on-screen at the time
you are asked to enter data.
2. The TIME prompt asks for the time as recorded in Standard Time.
Do NOT enter Local Mean Time as the program automatically makes
this adjustment and displays LMT. However, if Daylight Savings
Time was in effect when the time was recorded, it is important
that an hour be subtracted from the time before entering the time.
3. TIME ZONE refers to the distance in hours between Greenwich
Time and the time zone in which the time was recorded. Hours for
the U.S. Standard Time zones are as follows:
Eastern 5
Central 6
Mountain 7
Pacific 8
Alaska-Hawaii 10
Although time zones sometimes have irregular boundaries, the
general rule is that time changes by 1 hour for every 15 degrees
of geographical longitude. Since the U.S. adopted Standard Time
zones in 1918, there has been a tendency for the boundaries to
creep to the west. For states on the boundaries, check Doris
Chase Doane's "Time Changes in the U.S.A." or "The American
Atlas". Time zones east of Greenwich Time are entered as negative
hours, e.g., the zone in Paris, France is -1. Enter the time zone
as a whole hour. The prompt HH.MM includes the minutes only for
regions which are standardized to the half-hour, such as India at
- 5.30.
4. Geographical LONGITUDE should be taken from an atlas.
Longitudes west of Greenwich are entered as positive numbers.
Longitudes east of Greenwich are entered as negative numbers. The
longitude of Los Angeles, which is 118 degrees, 15 minutes West,
is entered as 118.15. The longitude of Paris, France is entered
as -02.20.
5. Geographical LATITUDE is entered as a positive number for
latitudes north of the equator and as a negative number for
latitudes south of the equator. The latitude of Los Angeles is
34.03. The latitude of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil is -23.00.
6. That's it. Please be patient while the program calculates the
chart data and forms the astrological glyphs.
7. After the chartwheel and the aspects appear on the screen,
simply hit any key to advance to the next screen. Hit PrintScreen
or Shift-PrintScreen before going on to the next screen if you
want to print a copy of the chartwheel (this assumes you loaded in
the proper graphics program before starting HORARY.EXE). The
chartwheel re-appears after the traditional horary information is
outputted in case you missed something the first time. See note 11
below.
SUGGESTION: I always use the first chartwheel display if I only
need to look at something quickly. I do not print the chartwheel
to the printer at this time if I want all the data printed. I
advance to the output screen and make my selection (usually to the
printer). Once the printer is done and the chartwheel re-appears
on the screen, that is the time I hit PrintScreen to send the
image to the printer. You will find that if you do the operations
in this order that everything is lined up on the printer as far as
top of form and line spacing is concerned.
8. After the first chartwheel has been displayed, you must tell
the program where you want the horary data directed to. You may
direct it to the screen, a printer or to a disk file. Follow the
on-screen instructions.
9. This program uses traditional horary aspects, angles and orbs
as referenced in "Christian Astrology" by William Lilly. See the
file called 'SPECS.DOC' for further technical information.
10. The calculated sideral time is shown within the chartwheel on
that screen (Hercules, CGA, EGA and VGA modes only). The
chartwheel also displays 'Re' for Regiomontanus houses or 'Pl' for
Placidian houses.
11. You can print a hardcopy of the graphics chartwheel (Hercules,
CGA, EGA and VGA modes only) by loading the file SCRNDUMP.COM
(Hercules), the DOS external command file GRAPHICS.COM (CGA) or
equivalent or the file EGAEPSON.COM (EGA or VGA modes, Epson and
Epson compatible printers) before running the horary astrology
program and pressing Shift-PrintScreen or PrintScreen while the
chartwheel is on the screen. This worked fine with a Citizen MSP-
10 printer and an Okidata ML320 printer. The program diskette also
includes a number of public domain alternatives to the above
mentioned files. See the file GRAPHICS.DOC for further information.
12. If you have any questions or suggestions, I would be pleased
to hear from you. You may write or call me at the address and
phone number below.
